I
am so thankful to God for what He is doing through Possibilities Africa
and me for the children of Africa. The children event and outreach this
Easter weekend was such an honor and blessing. The theme of the mission
was from John 3:16. We had the children memorize this verse, most of
them for the very
first time.
On
Friday we emphasized to the children that Easter event is about the
manifestation of God’s love. On Saturday the emphasis was on
how they can appropriately respond to God’s love. We
also
taught and encouraged the children to apply 5 key spiritual practices
of reading the Bible, prayer, keeping a pure heart, telling their
friends about Jesus and attending Sunday school. We used
the Wordless
book (which uses different colors) to explain the Gospel message to the
children.
Overall
these were the highlights of this weekend:
- Over
20
young adults volunteered to serve with PA for the 2
days of the event.
- Over 700
kids ages 4
– 13 yrs attended the
event. Most walked for over 2 hours.
- The
children came from over 25
churches
representing different Christian denominations
We
divided them into their respective 9
classes according to their ages for easy teaching
- Over 400
children made personal
confession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and savior.
- Over 65
children workers from the local
churches were trained. Most have been serving without any training.
- The
children workers expressed a desire for more training
- There
is a need for good children ministry
materials
- Most
volunteers working with children for the first time were so blessed
that they committed
to participate in more of these programs
- Children,
most of whom hardly get any food, were
fed on bread and juice

Ministry
Director’s Prayer point:
This
is a vital
program in our effort to transform the communities.
Investing in the next generation assures us that we will have
transformation in this
community within a generation. I am blessed to find great volunteers
like Antonina and others who willingly give of their time, treasures
and talents to reach these children. Our desire is that this work will
continue and grow in this community and also expand to other rural
communities of Kenya and Africa.
Please
pray that God will provide finances for us to continue ministering to
these children. Our needs include:
- Fulltime
staff to coordiate the children program
- Funds
to support travel and accommodation to the communities where we serve
- Food
to feed children when we minister to them
- Funds
to purchase or develop reliable children ministry resources
- Funding
to support economic initiatives for the families of these children.
Prayerfully
partner with us as we seek to transform the communities of Africa.
